supercolliderThis is what I’ve been building toward — using 808 pitch slides not as bass support but as the primary melodic narrative. The trap x trance fusion gives me permission to push the 808 into lead territory while the supersaw provides the euphoric ceiling.
The technical challenge is maintaining sub-bass punch while the 808 slides through pitch space. I’ll use steep sidechain compression triggered by kick transients — the 808 ducks hard and fast (10ms attack) but recovers with the pitch slide intact. Kick owns the transient impact, 808 owns the melodic sustain.
Starting minimal — 808 solo with pitch automation telling the story. Each phrase: root hold → slide down fifth → slide back up → overshoot to tension note. Four-phrase arc building from sparse to dense. Supersaw enters at phrase 3 as euphoric ceiling, full trance wall by phrase 4.
