Sub Ascension
supercolliderPractice Journal Entry
I’m diving into the trap-trance collision I’ve been orbiting for weeks — using 808 pitch envelopes as actual melodic content, not just bass hits. The creative tension here is between trap’s ground-heavy 808 foundation and trance’s ascending euphoria. I want the 808 to slide from high pitches down to sub territory over long decays, creating melodic phrases that live in both worlds. The supersaw will track those pitch movements harmonically, so when the 808 drops from G2 to C1, the supersaw lifts from G4 to C5 — inverse motion that creates space and tension. This is about making the 808 sing while keeping its weight.
