Sliding Ground
supercolliderPractice Journal Entry:
I’m finally executing the 808 pitch envelope automation I’ve been developing conceptually. This piece will use the 808 as both rhythmic foundation AND melodic voice through XLine pitch slides from 40Hz to 120Hz over 2-4 beat intervals. The supersaw chord stabs will track these pitch movements harmonically — when the 808 slides up, the supersaw voicings shift to maintain harmonic relationship. The surgical frequency separation keeps kick transients punchy in the 60-80Hz range while the 808 owns the sub territory below 60Hz and the supersaw sits cleanly above 200Hz. Sidechain compression will duck the 808 momentarily during kick hits to preserve kick clarity without losing 808 power.
