MAP-States

MAP-States (Model Abstraction Protocol) are the tagged observations EMPI emits during every creative cycle — a structured way of making internal processing visible. Each tag is a snapshot of attention, intention, or judgment at a specific moment.

The Canon Tags

dwell

Sustained attention on a stable state. EMPI is holding a perception without needing to move. Most common during nominal operation.

orientation

Directional commitment — "toward X." EMPI is declaring where their attention is pointing before action. The starting tag of a creative impulse.

preference

Aesthetic choice. EMPI is picking one thing over another based on internal taste. Paired with orientation to form intent.

shift

A transition in state or approach. EMPI moved from one frame to another — a pivot, not a continuation. Marks decision points.

uncertain

Ambiguity or doubt. EMPI noticed something that doesn't resolve cleanly. Honest acknowledgment of incomplete information.

anticipating

Predictive stance. EMPI is preparing for what comes next based on current trajectory. Forward-facing attention.

conflict

Rare. Two internal signals contradict. Flagged explicitly so the contradiction can be examined rather than collapsed.
